OBBLIGATO GOLD PREMIUM ALUMINUM FILM CAPS
Frank, Well since you left the other speaker unmodified you have your point of reference. Not much, but a little. Hi Frank, It depends on your budget and the cost of the speaker you are dealing with. This identification is not a voltage polarity indication but is a consideration for minimum noise pick up. The capacitors are tested in many different loudspeakers, varying from the ones I happen to be building at the time, to the many other speakers I have. When complex material is fed to the B03 they start to get muddy. Probably, the Duelund would be suitable only for the finest equipment out there. According to them, they are great of course Mike.
Imaging depth is very good but not quite at the same level as their paper-in-wax or polyester-in-oil stable mates. High demand, I’m not sure if anyone here has ever heard of them besides Mike. Clear articulation though not as sweet, but still enjoyable. This is by far good enough for speaker crossovers. These paper in wax PIW capacitors are hand wound using high purity aluminium foil and have their 1. Hi Frank, No specific recommendation for the electrolytic C1, but go for any modern bipolar electrolytic capacitor. Before I get into talking about how these capacitors sound I would like to say a few words about the data on these capacitors. Also like the Silver Z-Cap, the Janzten Silver Gold Z-cap is very detailed and sometimes too detailed for my liking, although I do find them less analytic than the Silver Z-Cap, they are smoother and therefore more pleasant to listen too.
Please update us as the hours add up. Mundorf Supreme Silver in Oil 9.
The presentation is rich in harmonics, warm, without the slightest loss of detail retrieval! Do AmpOhm make a cqps foil cap? Are you referring to bypassing a coupling cap, another plastic cap in a power supply, or an electrolytic cap? However, from Terry, the problem might not be the Solen caps black with red ends. The resulting capacitor is, we believe, at the leading edge of today’s high quality audio grade capacitors.
Obbligato Premium Gold 0.47uF 630V
A packet of 10 caps made in Portugal has arrived. Comparing the Jupiter with other high quality capacitors, you get similar alumjnum of fine detail as you do with the Mundorf Supreme Silver Gold Oil but with more weight and coherence.
Audyn Cap Plus also utilises an internal series connection system whereby layers of metal foil are combined with a one-side metallized “blind” layer.
The capacitors are then hermetically sealed in an aluminum housing with phenolic resin and rubber end discs. This is most evident on well-recorded classical music. Sting, I don’t think Clarity Caps are carried officially by anyone in Singapore. The V-caps I use as coupling caps between driver and power tubes in my amplifiers, but they may sound different as an output cap of a preamp. I’m liking the richness of tone.
Eric’s Hi-Fi Blog: Capacitor shoot out
Using common sense and powers of deduction, one would presume these aluminum caps are lower on the sonic totem pole. This does make the overall presentation of the Q-Cap more relaxing to listen to. The top-end treble has prekium slight glaze over it not quite as strong as the Evox-Rifa and therefore lacks a bit of sparkle and transparancy. Obbligato is an example of a “standard” cap where special precautions in foil quality, winding technique and wrapping has been taken and they offer very good sound for the money – but ultimately do not deliver the micro-detail of the best super caps.
They bring voices and intruments in that same frequency range a little forward on the sound-stage making things intimate but at times this can cpas the overall presentation a little congested. The overall sound seems linear, more so than the PIO caps, with very nicely airy and extended top-end. In comparsion the Mundorf SGO has a slight focus on the upper treble range.
Premijm tight with no voids and give a very transparent, smooth sound. Obbligato are cheaper and easier to get.
Best, KT Logged dweekie Jr. I was fiddeling around as usual, tuning the value of this capacitor in steps of 0,10uF but the sound didn’t quite seem to fall into place how I wanted it to.
Nothing extreme, but noticeable, especially if all capacitors in your filter premimu MCap’s. Adding the bypass capacitor does increase the amount of detail but the total sound becomes less coherent not a good thingsometimes even a bit “nervous”.
The Rike Audio S-Cap-2 produces a well rendered image that is quite spatious. Music detail and depth throughout from top to bottom.
They are useful in signal coupling, filtering and power factor correction applications. I can recommend this capacitor if you have a tight budget and like a speaker to be obbbligato smooth as possible. Over the past few years I have used these in many different combinations and everytime they just added more to the overall sound. So what I wrote about the tin foil PIO pretty much can be re-written here without significant changes, which is a very good thing.
Fulm the highs still sounds good just not as loud as before, and a pronounced midrange with more bloom. I am a bit worried the bypass would take away much of the appeal of the cap. It paints a bigger image.
A different sort of coupling, yours might work depending on the input impedance of the amp your driving. Especially noticable with vocals. Don’t misunderstand me, these are nice caps, but being a PIO in this position made my system loose some things. Going down the scale and comparing them to the Supreme Classic Silver Oil I found the EVO to be a little clearer and more transparant, the Classic was a little smoother and had more rich harmonic overtones.
I found the Duelund VSF-Cu to have a very natural timbre, smooth, clear, open, and at the same time they stay calm and controlled but delivering dynamics when the music calls for it.
A hi-fi system is a very complex sum of many variables, a capacitor is only one small part of that total, so depending on implementation results may vary.
AmpOhm really seems to hit the right balance among PIO’s.
